The Kuma Chan Family

Ouran is one of my favourite manga/anime. It is one of its kind to have made me LOL more than once. Besides the best slapstick humour, the other aspect I liked is the characters. You really see them grow from how they were at the beginning to how they turned out at the end, and it was quite different from the superficial 'growth of character' you see in most shoujo mangas.

And to this date, Tamaki and Haruhi remain among my favourite pairings. Haruhi is such a refreshing change from the one note, Mary Sue heroines that abound shoujo and I was pleasantly surprised to like such a lazy, no-nonsense protagonist. She was never like, 'oh Tamaki senpai!<3 <3' but saw him for what he really was, beyond his good looks and didn't fall for him just because of a random kind word or action. For the most part she was extremely cynical of his sentimental outbursts and plans to 'bring fortune to the ladies' (LOL!) and the process of developing finer feelings for him wasn't helped by the twins' sabotage (again, LOL! and a great character delineation for Hika and Kao)and Tamaki's own indiscretions. Tamaki himself broke the mold of the strong and silent type of shoujo protagonist with his endearingly foolish antics and nature.

I guess this artwork counts as a commemoration.
